AKA the confidence killer
Most of us have experienced acne at some point in our life, particularly as a teen. That giant, red, pus-filled horror taking center-stage on our face, especially before a big school dance or event. It's something that we were once warned about or even witnessed our older siblings and friends experience. And once it happened to us...well, let's not take that trip down memory lane.
not everyone is blessed with clear skin after their teenage years...
Either those pimples decided to stick around, or they decided it was finally time to make a debut. Yes, I'm talking about that dreaded adult acne. The breakouts you never expected to experience in adulthood. The breakouts that made you splurge on every acne skincare product that exists on the market. And when that didn't work, you may have ended up in the dermatologist's office for some heavy duty assistance in clearing your skin.
the acne medications didn't help.
I'm guessing since you're here though...
Or maybe they did at first, but now the acne has returned and your skin is right back at the start (or even worse than before).
And it starts with looking beyond the skin.
If we haven't met already I'm Dr. Merola, a licensed Naturopathic Doctor in the state of California (practicing in sunny San Diego). After working with countless women dealing with adult acne, I decided to create this course to help a greater amount of women achieve clearer, healthier skin from the inside-out.
As a Naturopathic Doctor, my focus is on finding the root cause of a condition, and this principle can be applied to treating adult acne that has been going on for months or years. The skin is a window into your body, and chronic, severe breakouts are your body's way of communicating and trying to tell you that something is "off."
Acne is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition. That's why a root-cause approach is necessary for true skin healing to occur. Gut health, hormones, and the skin barrier are three key players to consider when it comes to acne. In my new course, I include a step-by-step guide on how to heal your acne without medications and I offer recommendations based on the latest research, my clinical experience, and personal trail-and-errors.
Medications are NOT the only option when it comes to your acne-prone skin.
Clear skin starts with the basics - diet, exercise, stress management, and sleep hygiene. It's something that we've all been told countless times, yet have you really stopped and put it into action? Lifestyle will always be the foundation for skin health (and overall wellness). This is why the first step to healthy skin starts with addressing the best lifestyle for clearer, healthier skin and why it matters.
Once we get the basics down, then it's time to clean the slate. Module two teaches you how to support elimination pathways in the body so that your skin doesn't take all the burden. There are two main goals - reduce the amount of toxins coming into the body + increase the amount of toxins leaving the body. We do this with the power of plants and nutraceuticals in addition to lifestyle changes.
Our body always wants to be in a state of balance (aka homeostasis). Sometimes, the busy ins and outs of life and our environment can throw things off. Hormones are another key player in the formation of acne, which is why in module four you'll learn how to re-balance and optimize your hormones for clearer, healthier skin.
While the main focus is to look inward for healthier skin, we can't ignore what we put onto our skin. Our environment and the products we use also have an impact on the development of acne. This last step in the Merola Glow framework looks at non-toxic skincare, haircare, and beauty products to use for blemish-free skin in addition to aesthetic treatments that can provide more immediate relief while we focus on long-term change by healing from within.
